Supporting healthcare teams through smarter workforce technology

Healthcare providers across Aotearoa are continuing to navigate growing patient demand, workforce shortages and increasing operational pressure. As the healthcare sector evolves, digital transformation is becoming increasingly important not only in patient care, but also in the systems supporting the people delivering it every day.

It has taken another step in its digital transformation journey through the implementation of Oracle Fusion Cloud Applications, helping modernise workforce operations across the organisation and improve the experience for staff throughout the network.

Serving more than 365,000 patients across 52 clinics nationwide, Tāmaki Health employs more than 1,000 staff who support thousands of patients every day. With increasing demand for healthcare services and ongoing workforce pressures across the sector, the organisation identified the need for a more scalable and connected workforce management system.

Delivered alongside and, the implementation of Oracle Cloud HCM has streamlined key HR processes including recruitment, onboarding, workforce reporting and employee learning. The move has also improved workforce visibility through AI driven insights and reporting tools that support more informed decision making across the organisation.

The transformation has already delivered significant operational improvements, including reducing recruitment timelines from months to around three weeks and simplifying onboarding processes for new team members joining the network.

Lisa Ryan, Chief People, Culture & Capability Officer at Tāmaki Health, said investing in workforce technology is an important part of supporting healthcare teams and improving operational efficiency across the organisation.

“As demand for healthcare services continues to grow, we need a more agile and scalable approach to managing our workforce,” said Lisa Ryan. “Oracle Cloud HCM has helped us modernise our HR operations, automate key processes and better support our clinicians so they can focus on delivering accessible, high quality care to the communities we serve.”

The implementation forms part of Tāmaki Health’s broader digital strategy to modernise and introduce AI driven technology not only across clinical and patient delivery, but also within the systems supporting staff and clinic teams across the network.

Jason Langley, Managing Director at Oracle New Zealand, said workforce technology continues to play a key role in helping healthcare organisations respond to changing demands across the sector.

“With Oracle Cloud HCM, Tāmaki Health has been able to quickly and easily take advantage of the latest AI innovations to unlock real time workforce insights, streamline hiring, improve workforce visibility and enhance employee development as it continues to expand across New Zealand,” said Jason Langley.

The implementation was managed by Deloitte New Zealand, a member of the Oracle PartnerNetwork (OPN).

The announcement has also been featured across healthcare and technology publications, highlighting the growing importance of digital transformation and AI driven workforce management within New Zealand healthcare.
